Over 150 visitors, including 20 head teachers from Germany and around 25 children from the Laimäckergasse elementary school in the 10th district, experienced a day of education, encounters, movement and ideas.
On Monday, November 10, 2025, the Education Lab opened its doors for the second time and once again showed how much energy there is in educational innovation. People from various sectors came by to
“We also need trust at school, otherwise you can’t learn well,” says Daria in the morning, which was dominated by those who live and shape school on a daily basis: Pupils and teachers.
Under the title “School as it could be”, we worked together with the team from Stabil im Kopf co-creation sessions were held in which the young and old guests talked about their ideas, wishes and experiences.
What conditions are needed to make school a place of well-being and development? How can
In the afternoon, visitors were able to experience the Education Lab in a variety of ways. Central questions of educational work were discussed at the Talking Tables, from career entry and youth development with buntažintergenerational cooperation with the Education Lab Senior Buddies, to conflict competence and practical tools for teachers with Stable in the head.
The interface between science and practice was also represented: MindThings and coMetta provided insights into how findings from cognitive science can be applied in education. Together with comigo we talked about skills that children develop before they start school and how educators can support them in this process.
Last but not least, it was also about the question: How can I become part of the Education Lab myself or use the wide range of offers for my work?
At the same time, the EdTech Barcamp, in cooperation with EdTech Austria and Innovationsmacherin, invited participants to take a look at the digital future: How can technology reshape education and where does it reach its limits?
Speaking in the evening Iris Haschek, head of the mental health daysgave an inspiring keynote speech on “Mental health in schools and education”, a topic that is more topical than ever in view of the increasing stress in everyday education.
She made it clear how important it is for both young people and educators to find space to talk about feelings, stress and challenges openly, honestly and without taboos. After all, sustainable learning can only succeed where mental health is taken seriously. Afterwards, the Teaching Quality Academy continued with a practical approach: here, visitors were able to try out methods and tools directly, a lively conclusion to an intensive day of learning.
The day ended with a party in the Education Lab, with a DJ, music and lots of good conversation. A great end to a day that made it clear: Education thrives on encounters, openness and shared ideas.
The second Open House showed what the Education Lab is all about: a space where people from a wide range of educational fields come together to learn from each other and explore new paths together. We would like to thank everyone who attended and are already looking forward to the next time, at the birthday party in April.
