Culture School Workshops: Reflecting, understanding and shaping diversity

The Culture School workshops are aimed at teachers who teach in socially and culturally heterogeneous classes. School is understood as a social space in which social inequalities, affiliations and orders of difference are reflected and can be actively shaped.

The aim is to see diversity not as a problem, but as educational potential. Based on social science and anti-discrimination approaches, the workshops combine reflection, knowledge transfer and concrete possibilities for action in the classroom.

The Culture School sees diversity as a superpower and supports teachers, students and guardians in seeing diversity as a positive resource.

Together with them, we are organizing 3 independent workshops in the Education Lab. This is the first on the topic of cultural diversity in schools.

The first workshop is dedicated to the topic of “Cultural diversity in the school system”. Cultural diversity is not a marginal issue, but rather fundamentally shapes school reality. This workshop opens up an analytical view of schools as institutions in the context of social inequality and social diversity.

What participants can expect:

  • Introduction to key concepts such as culture, diversity and belonging
  • Reflection on school as a place of (re-)production of social inequality
  • Examining one’s own professional role in the system
