Together for appreciative, resilient learning, strong for the future.

Senior Buddies are experienced teachers who want to share and pass on their many years of experience. They come from different types of schools and subject areas and have a common approach: Learning is most successful where relationships, trust and a focus on strengths take center stage.

The Senior Buddies do not see themselves as traditional trainers, but as learning partners. The monthly workshops are not about perfect concepts or ready-made recipes, but about sharing, testing and thinking ahead together.

We take up a specific thematic focus in each case and highlight different approaches to learning, personal development and mental health.

Making thoughts visible through writing – empowering children

Reflections on child-oriented writing instruction in first grade.

As teachers and mentors, we can strengthen children especially when we gain access to what really moves them: their thoughts, joys, worries, wishes and fears.

Writing can be a key to this. This can not only strengthen the individual child, but also positively change the way the class works together.

In this workshop, we will work together on how children in the first grade can write their own texts with the first words they have learned, with gentle guidance, child-oriented and with confidence in their abilities.

Marlene Walter uses many authentic children’s texts from exercise books and self-designed books to show how individual writing is possible from the very beginning and how this can promote creative independence, relationships and psychological well-being.

Target group: Primary school teachers, elementary school teachers, parents

What you can expect:

  • Insight into a child-oriented approach to learning to write in the 1st grade

  • Practical examples and real children’s texts as inspiration

  • Ideas on how to integrate individual writing into learning units right from the start

  • Exchange of experiences, questions and implementation in your own practice

  • Conclusion with a Q&A session and networking

Who is this workshop for?

For educators and those interested in education who are looking for new approaches to strengthen personal development, relationships and a positive learning environment in everyday life.

The Senior Buddies workshop series takes place once a month. Each session focuses on a different topic – from theater and drama pedagogy to working on strengths, mindfulness and communication through to participatory forms of learning. The aim is to offer inspiration, provide concrete ideas and strengthen the exchange between participants.
Participation is free of charge! Registration is requested.
