Thematic forum #3 on the “Rethinking kindergarten” reform

How can elementary education in Vienna be developed further? What framework conditions do children, educators and institutions need to ensure good education from the very beginning? To this end, the Education Lab and the City of Vienna are hosting a series of interactive formats in which key questions about the future of elementary education in Vienna will be discussed.

On three dates, people from practice, administration and education will come together to discuss central issues of elementary education, collect ideas together and actively participate in the reform process. “Rethinking kindergarten” to contribute. The themed forums offer space for exchange, different points of view and impulses from both a practical and an expert perspective. Experiences from everyday life in kindergartens and educational institutions meet professional assessments and new perspectives. The results of the discussions flow directly into the reform of elementary education in Vienna.

The themed forums are aimed at all those who work in the field of early childhood education or are interested in the further development of early childhood education, including teachers and kindergarten assistants, managers and employees from administration and management, experts from the field of early childhood education and interested parties from other educational institutions.

In this context, we address the following questions:

1. Fair starting opportunities: How do we create fair starting opportunities in kindergarten, regardless of origin, language or living conditions?
2. Language and transition to school: How can children speak German well enough after kindergarten to be able to follow lessons at elementary school?
3. Cooperation with parents: How can the exchange with parents be structured in a binding, cooperative and clear manner?
4. Personnel: How do we attract good employees, develop them further and keep them in the job in the long term?
5. Open discussion: What ideas and perspectives does the future of elementary education in Vienna need?

The themed forums combine different perspectives from practice and administration and create space for exchange and active participation. Brief impulses provide an insight into current issues, followed by discussion and joint reflection.

Dates each from 17.00 to 19.00, after which we invite you to a get-together
